Black obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed from rapidly cooled lava. Obsidian was used by many ancient cultures for tools, weapons and ritual objects. It was highly valued for its sharp edges when chipped into blades. Black obsidian is associated with protection, grounding, and releasing negativity. It's linked to the root chakra.
